HT383E emissions-legal small-block crate engine
The new GM Performance Parts HT383E crate
engine – part number 17800393 – is designed as an
emissions-legal, direct replacement for high-mileage 5.7-liter
(350 cubic inches) small-block engines in 1996-1999 GM full-size
trucks. With significant increases in horsepower and torque, it
offers a substantial increase in performance while retaining a
stock underhood appearance.
The HT383E is the newest member of GMPP's
High Torque line of replacement crate engines and offers the
same, high-strength attributes of the HT383, including a
383-cubic-inch displacement, forged steel crankshaft, four-bolt
main caps and a camshaft developed for the hard-work demands of
trucks. A broad, flat torque curve flattens hills when towing a
trailer.
Engineers developed the HT383E crate engine
package for a fast and simple installation. After removing the
original 5.7-liter engine, its intake manifold, wiring harness,
fuel injection system and other accessories are simply
transferred to the new HT383E assembly – a much quicker and
easier process than rebuilding the original engine. The
vehicle's computer control system adapts to the HT383E,
requiring no additional tuning adjustments.
GM Performance Parts continues to set the
standard for performance and value. Enthusiasts who crave the
latest technology, maximum horsepower and the expertise and
confidence backed by GM, can purchase GMPP crate engines –
including the HT383E – blocks, heads and components, from Fred
Beans Parts, a GM dealership and GMPP Authorized Center.
